I took the elevator everyday

One Holy Night by Sandra Cisneros adaptation

It seems to me as though Cisneros is putting snippets of prose together and utilizing them as poem stanzas. They seem heavily based on simile and anecdote. 

Here's my adaptation:

"Some claim love spreads like a common cold, but 

I imagine it differently. It's more like a tornado, 

where it can tear one house to shreds and take a 

mere roof shingle from the next.    

                          

I always hear people talk about shows they like. They 

get so into it, reciting every detail from the pilot to the

latest season finale, and its great to hear how 

absorbed they are, but you never feel the same spark. 

Only after you find a show for you.               

And that's how I feel. About love, anyways."

Love Poem

I want to write a love poem
no I don't because that would be stupid
why should I write this
if it'll be over in a few
months
weeks
minutes
why should I devote myself
to this ephemeral
relationship?
I see the other girls that put hearts
in their statuses
and it's all over if you just
change that relationship status
and say a few words to them
professing
your feelings for a new lover
being in a relationship is too much
"commitment"
for me right now
I don't want to deal with the stress
Jeez I hope this doesn't carry over into high school
